2021 Goosecross State Lane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Goosecross’s State Lane Vineyard features a unique diversity of soils, which is comprised of gravel, clay loam and ancient coastal deposits. Located between the warmer up-valley climate and the cooling maritime influence of the San Francisco Bay to the south, the State Lane Vineyard traditionally sees an extended growing season growing grapes that produce elegant and balanced wines. At 94.2% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5.8% Petite Verdot in the glass the color is dark, almost opaque. It reveals aromas of blackberry, red currant, baking spices, mocha, sandalwood and a hint of smoke and earthiness that offer a complexity that with each swirl, I kept going back in for more! The palate is layered in flavors that are big and bold, with rich dark fruit, mocha, spice and espresso. The tannins are tart and expressive but maintain incredible balance. There is a line of acidity that lifts the Cabernet Sauvignon all the way through the finish that is long and caressing. The Goosecross State Lane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon could use cellar time in the bottle and should age beautifully for 10 + years.
