2022 Siduri Sierra Mar Vineyard Pinot Noir

Siduri was named for the Babylonian goddess of wine and was the project of founder Adam Lee’s passion for Pinot Noir. Winemaking is under the direction of Matt Revelette who received his masters in Viticulture and Enology from Fresno State and spent time honing his skills at Sojourn Cellars, Williams Selyem, Kosta Browne, Quintessa and other wineries. Matt crafts more than 20 single-vineyard and appellation series Pinot Noirs from esteemed vineyards throughout California. These cool climate vineyard sites stretch as far south as the Santa Rita Hills and north to Willamette Valley, Oregon.

The 2022 Siduri Sierra Mar Vineyard Pinot Noir is one of those cerebral wines that cause you to pause. The delicate floral bouquet unveils a more sophisticated framework of complex flavors. Within the core is a tapenade of pomegranate, cranberry compote, rhubarb, savory herbs with dried sage, ground clove and underbrush. You immediately appreciate the delicate underpinning of fruit but are taken aback by its savory elements of tilled earth and stony minerality. There is plenty of enjoyment in this wine, but you must be patient as it evolves in the glass.
