2017 Pio Cesare Alba - Italia Barolo Pia

Pio Cesare has been producing wine for more than 100 years and through generations. The tradition began in 1881, when Pio Cesare started gathering grapes in his vineyards and purchasing those of some selected and reliable farmers in the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco districts.

A classic style of Barolo. The color shows garnet with lighter edges. The aromas are enticing and fragrant out of the glass, there is plenty of dark juicy fruit, black cherry, blackberry, spiced oak, floral undertones, cassis, and a whiff of earthiness. The palate is full bodied and youthful with firm polish. There are notes of espresso, black licorice and racy acidity that help to maintain balance. It all leads to a long firm finish. The Pio Cesare Barolo is approachable now, but with a long aging potential up to 15 years of cellar time. Magnifico e delizioso!
