2019 Bouchane Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay

This is the oldest continuously operating winery in the Carneros District AVA. The Hyde Vineyard was planted to grapes and fruit trees in the 1880’s. Italian winemaker Johnny Garetto bought the land in 1927 and farmed it until 1961, when he sold the property to Beringer Vineyards. After 20 years as a storage facility, the rundown winery buildings were bought by Gerret and Tatiana Copeland, along with 30 acres of surrounding land. The Copelands continued to update the property, expanding the vineyard to 100 acres. They invested their time and passion into building a sustainable, family-owned estate.

This wine displays minerality, and a touch of calcareous chalkiness in the nose. There are notes of not fully ripened white peach, alongside savory notes with layers and layers of delightfully balanced fruits and complex richness. The oak notes are subtle and well-integrated. “This age-worthy wine is a delight that speaks to you.”

Try this wine with foods such as oysters, mussels, shellfish, and lighter, savory dishes.
