2019 Domaine Faiveley Nuit Saint-Georges
Domaine Faiveley has long established itself in the town of Nuits-Saint Georges in the most exceptional terroirs of the Cote d’Or. Founded in 1825, Bourgogne’s Faiveley has been handed down from father to son for over 175 years. As the sixth generation to take the reins, François Faiveley manages Domaine Faiveley, the largest family domaine in Burgundy. Bourgognes Faiveley today owns more appellations in their entirety (monopoles) than any other domaine in Burgundy.
The 2019 Domaine Faiveley Nuits-Saint Georges has a charming personality and does not reveal any of the typical characteristics of the wines from Nuits which at times came be a little rough around the edges. Intense ruby color with aromas of baked red fruit, tangerine peel, smoked meat, a hint of mushroom compote and spice. The palate is medium to full bodied with layers of flavors that are delicate and seductive. The tannins are round with generous acidity and a medium earthy, spicy finish. With age this wine should soften and achieve more balance. Very enjoyable!
