2019 Etude Heirloom Grace Benoist Ranch Carneros Pinot Noir

Etude Wine is dedicated to the study of the craft of winegrowing. In classical music, an etude is a composition with a technical focus that allows the musician to practice a particular technique. Similarly, Etude wines are the product of deliberate concentration on the instructive variables of the craft. Working together are current winemaker Jon Priest and Asst. Winemaker Rob Fischer.

Etude’s Heirloom Pinot Noir is a selection of nine clones across the properties. produced from several heirloom selections of the variety. It exemplifies the singular, superior wines from Etude – unusually expressive, concentrated, and pure.

In the glass the 2019 Etude Heirloom Grace Benoist Ranch Pinot Noir shows a sparkling ruby color. This is such a beautifully made Pinot with old-vine character, that combines a savory and spiced profile because of the heirloom vines. Aromas are of dried strawberries, pretty flowers and hints of spice, mushroom, and olives. It is medium to full body with a dusty texture and very pretty berry and cherry character. The tannins are polished and show a silky texture. The right amount of acidity that gives the wine lift leading to a long finish.
