2019 Jayson Chardonnay

The brand Jayson by Pahlmeyer was introduced in 1992. Within the portfolio are Napa Valley and Sonoma Coast varietals including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. By appearances, it is the little brother to the Pahlmeyer at more modest price points.

This 100% Chardonnay is sourced from multiple vineyards throughout Napa Valley and is under the guidance of winemaker Katie Vogt. It is fermented and aged in 100% French Oak barrels and undergoes 100% malolactic fermentation. Golden yellow with notes of butter pecan and vanilla bean. Your initial impression is that this is a wine of considerable weight, but you will need to delve deep into this wine. Once inside you are greeted with textures of yellow citrus, star fruits and candied citron. There is a whiff of sweet toasty oak in the background. It has just enough acidity and remains impeccably balanced from front to back. It beckons you back after each sip.
