Stephan von Neippberg acquired this 13th century estate in 1998. There are 222 acres of vineyards planted on clay-limestone sub-soils. The blend is 85% merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. The brooding deep ruby color underscores a serious wine beneath this framework. This sumptuous red has accents of red flowers blended with undertones of a baked cherry pie and red plum jam. The tannins are nicely layered within a mid-palate that is lush and silky. A very sleek effort by Stephan von Neippberg.
