2020 Stemmari Nero d'Avola

Stemmari cultivates the indigenous grapes of Sicily, Nero d’Avola and Grillo, along with the international varietals of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Nero d’Avola was brought to the island by the Greeks. Almost 10% of the grapes from this wine were aged in French oak barrels for one year.

Varietal Composition: 100% Nero d'Avola

Tasting Notes: Deep, ruby red appearance in the glass, with aromatics of intense red fruits – wild strawberry, cranberry and tart red cherry; flavors follow fruit aromas with the addition of dark chocolate; balanced tannins and acids, moderately long finish, well made with a few more years of enjoyment.

Food pairing: Grilled steaks, aged cheeses, baked pasta dishes such as lasagna
