2021 Flora Springs Holy Smoke Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Floral Springs was founded in 1978, but their legacy dates to the late 1800s when wine grapes were first planted in Napa Valley property which is now their estate vineyards. Floral Springs build a new winery along St. Helena Hwy in St. Helena. In 2023 Floral Springs celebrated their 45th anniversary. Italian Winemaker Enrico Bertoz joined Floral Springs in 2008.

The Floral Springs Holy Smoke Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a single, 3.3-acre block in the vineyard. Near dawn as the fog lingers in the hills of the valley, they call it “Holy Smoke” as this ritual creates an ideal winegrowing climate. In the glass the color is opaque with beautiful plum edges. Within are aromas of black plum, ripe blueberries, cassis, anise, vanilla, and a hint of dried herbs. The palate is layered with rich fruit flavor, a creamy core of rounded tannins and acidity that adds a lovely mouthfeel. The wine finishes slightly herbal but with elegance and refinement. Very enjoyable and a great offering from a long-standing Napa Valley estate.
