2021 Le Cadeau Rocheux Pinot Noir
This estate vineyard was originally planted in 1999 and is situated on the rocky Western slope. It consists of Pommard and Dijon 777 clones that bathe in the heat of sunset and the cool evening breezes. This wine exemplifies the rugged terroir where it is grown. It has a ruby-garnet appearance with aromas of smoky earth, fresh cardamon, bay leaf and savory herbs. The vibrant fruit is slightly restrained but amplified by notes of pomegranate, cranberry foam and red currants. It has a hint of forest undergrowth and a mineral-driven structure that seamlessly weaves into the wine’s fabric showcasing its true sense of place. This wine symbolizes Tom Mortimer’s true passion for Burgundian-styled wines.
