2022 Domaines Ott Chateau De Selle Cotes De Provence Rose´
Domaines Ott was founded in 1896 by Alsatian engineer Marcel Ott. It is owned and managed by Champagne Louis Roederer. Château de Selle was the first estate acquired by Marcel Ott, located in the Côtes de Provence appellation inland on limestone hillsides. The proportion of stone in the soil is 40 to 50 percent with yields that are extremely low. Château de Selle encompasses an area of 345 acres, of which 160 acres are planted and the average age of the vine is 22 years old.
This rose´ is composed of 55% Grenache, 25% Cinsault, 14% Mourvedre and 6% Syrah. The 2022 Domaines Ott Chateau DeLasalle Cotes De Provence Rose´ is one of those unexpected gems that you rarely uncover. Glistening pale peach and rose gold hues dance in your glass. The bouquet unveils fragrant notes of wild strawberry, white peach, and a hint of fresh-cut lavender mingling with whispers of saline minerality. On the palate, the wine unfolds like a symphony—layers of vibrant creme de cassis and framboise harmonize beautifully with a creamy mid-palate texture, underpinned by a racy acidity that keeps the experience refreshingly juicy and alive. A subtle hint of Provencal herbs and a chalky minerality linger on the finish, extending the wine’s elegance well beyond the final sip into a very memorable ending. This extremely elegant, well-crafted rose´ is among the elite and the finest that I have experienced in my career.
