Champagne Veuve Clicquot Brut

Champagne Veuve Clicquot is a youthful and modernistic brand. It boasts a bright yellow-orange label that signifies joy, happiness and the sun. It remains the most recognized label in the LVMH portfolio. It is composed of 45% reserve wine from ten vintages and grapes from 50 to 60 different crus. The blend is predominately Pinot Noir with some Chardonnay and the remaining balance of Pinot Meunier.

In most year’s I can foresee the house style of this Champagne, but with the current release I was unexpectedly surprised. The medium yellow hue opened with delicate, bready aromas. Within the core there was luxurious texture and supple elegance that I had never experienced with this bottling. Fluffy yellow citrus fruits and tangerine peels were gently wrapped with lightly roasted walnuts and trace of minerality giving it a sumptuous appeal. A great stylistic approach to winemaking by LVMH.
