2015 Champagne Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame
In the 1800’s Madame Clicquot perfected many innovations in the crafting of Champagne and was referred to as the “Grande Dame of Champagne.” This project was initiated in 1972 as a tribute to Madame Clicquot. This wine emphasizes Pinot Noir with 90% in this elite cuvee, sourced from eight grand cru vineyard sites along with 10% Chardonnay. It is aged in medieval chalk tunnels for a minimum of 7 years.
The 2015 La Grande Dame Veuve Clicquot pays tribute to Madame Clicquot’s visionary legacy. This champagne reveals a delicate golden appearance with a fine, elegant mousse. Aromas of brioche and freshly baked pie crust rise from the glass along with notes of acacia blossoms and white peach. The hint of smokiness from within is offset with detailed notes of crisp pears, toasted almonds, ginger and lightly crushed minerals. This wine is racy and sleekly designed with an abundance of elegant acidity and richness. Expect this ultra-complex Champagne to caress you through the night.
